Convergence Named Qualified Supplier Under DDI Stream 5: Innovation and Experimentation
Convergence Design Services has been named a qualified supplier under Stream 5, Innovation and Experimentation, of Canada's Defence Drone Initiative (DDI) Marketplace.
DDI represents an important shift in how Canada develops and acquires emerging defence technologies, connecting operational requirements with Canadian innovators through faster experimentation, prototype development, testing and adaptation.
In that sense, DDI reflects some of the principles behind Ukraine's Brave1 model: closer collaboration between operators and technology developers, rapid iteration, continuous adaptation and a more direct pathway from emerging technology to operational capability. While Brave1 operates under the urgency of an active war, DDI can be understood as an emerging Canadian peacetime analogue, adapted to Canada's defence-readiness requirements, procurement environment and sovereign-capability priorities.
This approach closely aligns with how Convergence operates. Our multidisciplinary team works across sensing, robotics, autonomy, edge AI, communications, advanced manufacturing, systems integration and field experimentation. We focus on turning complex operational problems into practical systems, validated and iterated through real-world environments and operator feedback.
Current Convergence programs include:
Arctic OWL, our distributed multi-modal decision mesh for detecting, classifying and localizing uncrewed systems and other objects of interest
MIL-V, a modular crewed/uncrewed ground platform designed for logistics, surveillance, sensor deployment and operation in complex environments
Integration of sensors, communications, autonomy, data fusion and command-and-control systems
Rapid design, prototype development, environmental testing and operational experimentation
Our Stream 5 qualification does not represent a contract or the selection of a specific Convergence technology. It positions our team to compete for future DDI innovation and experimentation requirements supporting the Canadian Armed Forces and Canadian Coast Guard.
